The standard way to write dice rolls: NdX+M means roll N dice with X sides and add M. For example, 2d6+3 means roll two six-sided dice and add 3 to the total.
A dice mechanic where you roll multiple dice at once and count successes or take the highest result, rather than rolling a single die and adding modifiers.
A dice mechanic where you roll two d10s as a number from 01-100 and succeed if you roll equal to or under your skill rating. Lower rolls are better.
A target number that a dice roll must meet or exceed to succeed. Higher DCs represent harder tasks. The GM sets the DC based on circumstances.
An exceptionally good roll that grants bonus effects beyond normal success. The definition varies by system but typically represents lucky or spectacular outcomes.
An exceptionally bad roll that causes additional negative consequences beyond normal failure. Often dramatic or humorous, representing bad luck or spectacular mistakes.
A number added to (or subtracted from) a dice roll. Modifiers come from attributes, skills, equipment, magic, or situational bonuses/penalties.
