Archery is the skill of using bows and crossbows—weapons that might seem archaic in a world of smart guns and cyberweapons, but retain surprising utility. Bows are completely silent, don't register on weapon scanners, don't require ammunition that can be traced, and can deliver specialized payloads like incendiary or explosive tips. Archery uses your REF stat and fills a unique tactical niche. In Night City, an archer might seem like a novelty, but the practical advantages are real. A crossbow bolt through a window makes no sound and leaves no ballistic evidence. Compound bows can be disassembled and hidden where guns can't go. Some nomad clans and combat-focused edgerunners maintain archery traditions precisely because these weapons operate outside the assumptions that Night City's security systems are built on. When everyone expects guns, the arrow they never heard coming is the one that kills them.
