Riding (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Riding covers your ability to ride horses and other mount animals. In the post-collapse world of the Time of the Red, horses have made a comeback in areas where fuel is scarce, roads are broken, and vehicles are unreliable. The Badlands outside Night City, nomad territories, and rural zones all see significant use of horses and other animals for transportation. Riding uses your DEX stat and is primarily a Badlands and nomad skill. Inside Night City proper, you won't see many horses, but beyond the city limits the picture changes dramatically. Nomad clans use horses for herding, patrol, and situations where vehicles would be too conspicuous or loud. Ranches in the agricultural zones rely on riding skills. For edgerunners who operate in the Badlands or interact with nomad clans, Riding provides mobility that doesn't require fuel, makes no engine noise, and doesn't show up on thermal vehicle scanners.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: DEX **Key Uses**: - Riding horses in the Badlands - Mounted combat - Traveling through terrain vehicles can't handle - Quiet movement without engine noise **Additional**: Primarily a Badlands skill. Urban campaigns may rarely use it, while nomad-focused campaigns may feature it regularly.

Tips

**Build Advice**: Purely campaign-dependent. Nomad characters and Badlands-focused games benefit most. Urban campaigns can safely skip this. **Synergies**: Pairs with Tracking and Endurance for a complete Badlands survival package. Archery from horseback is a classic nomad tactic. **Character Concepts**: Nomad rancher, Badlands scout, horse breeder, traditionalist nomad clan rider.

Frequently asked questions

Do people really ride horses in Cyberpunk RED?

Yes. Outside Night City, horses are practical—they don't need fuel, handle rough terrain, and are common in nomad communities and the agricultural zones. The post-collapse world brought back many pre-industrial solutions.
