All Occupations
Occupations are Call of Cthulhu's version of classes
If you come from Dungeons & Dragons or another class-based game, occupations are the closest thing Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition 7th edition has to classes. Some players also call them professions or jobs. Instead of granting spells or combat features, an occupation decides which skills your investigator starts with and how many occupation skill points you get, along with a credit rating range that sets your starting wealth.
How to Choose Your Occupation
When selecting your occupation, think about:
- Investigation Style: What skills does your character need?
- Credit Rating: How wealthy is your character?
- Contacts: What connections does this occupation provide?
- Story Role: How does this profession fit your chronicle?
FAQ: Does Call of Cthulhu have classes?
Not in the traditional sense. Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition 7th edition has no character classes. Occupations fill that role: your occupation is your investigator's profession (some players also call these professions or jobs) and it determines your starting skills, occupation skill points, and credit rating. Pick the occupation that matches the character you want to play instead of choosing a class.
