How do Hunger dice work in V5?
Hunger dice (shown in red) replace regular dice in your pool based on your Hunger level. When a Hunger die shows a 10, it triggers a Messy Critical (a success with a dramatic complication). When it shows a 1, it triggers a Bestial Failure (a failure with a Beast-driven complication).
What is a Messy Critical?
A Messy Critical occurs when a Hunger die shows a 10 and you have at least one success. You succeed, but the Beast takes over, causing dramatic and often violent results. The Storyteller determines the exact outcome.
What is a Bestial Failure?
A Bestial Failure occurs when a Hunger die shows a 1 and you have no successes. You fail, and the Beast causes complications. You might frenzy, lose control, or act on animal instinct.
