Features
System-accurate dice rolling with all the mechanics you need for Daggerheart.
- 2d12 Hope & Fear dice
- Critical success (doubles)
- Hope vs Fear results
How It Works
Roll 2d12 (one Hope die, one Fear die) and add your modifier. If the Hope die is higher, the player keeps narrative control. If the Fear die is higher, the GM gains a Fear token and narrates a complication. Doubles are a critical success regardless of total.
Pro tips
Fear tokens fuel the GM's moves, so even successful rolls with Fear have consequences. Use your Hope tokens strategically for re-rolls and special abilities.
FAQ
What are Hope and Fear dice?
The two d12s you roll are split into a Hope die (light) and a Fear die (dark). Whichever die rolls higher determines the narrative outcome: Hope means the player controls the fiction, Fear means the GM gains a Fear token and introduces a complication, even on a success.
How do critical successes work in Daggerheart?
Rolling doubles on the 2d12 (both dice show the same number) is always a critical success, regardless of the total. You succeed with a powerful additional benefit.
