Definition

The narrative focus on a particular character at a given moment. Good GMs share the spotlight so everyone gets moments to shine.

Example

The rogue picks the lock, the fighter kicks in the door, the wizard identifies the artifact. Everyone got spotlight moments in that scene.

Common Mistakes

  • Hogging the spotlight as a player (let others have their moments)
  • As GM, always focusing on the same character
  • Not creating situations where different characters' skills matter
