Overview
Conceal/Reveal Object runs both directions off one rating. Use it to get a holdout pistol past a club door, tape a data shard under a table, or pat down a contact and find the blade they swore they left at home. It sits in the Awareness group with Perception, Concentration, Tracking, and Lip Reading, and it keys off INT rather than DEX. Fast hands are not the point. Knowing where a search will not look is.
How it works
Linked Stat: INT Category: Awareness Resolution: 1d10 plus INT plus skill level. Hiding an object is usually opposed by the searcher's own Conceal/Reveal Object check. Item Size: Bulk drives difficulty. A shard or holdout weapon is easy, a heavy pistol is work, and a shoulder arm needs clothing built for it.
Tips and playstyle
Best for: Smugglers, bodyguards who sweep a room before the client walks in, and anyone who expects to be searched at a door. Character concepts: A fixer who never arrives clean, a Lawman who finds what the last search missed, a courier moving chips nobody should scan. Synergies: Perception spots the ambush, this finds the weapon, and Wardrobe and Style supplies the coat that sells the concealment.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Perception?
Perception is broad awareness of danger and detail. This is a focused search of one person, vehicle, or room for a specific hidden item.
Which side of the roll do I make?
Both use the same rating. Hide something and you set the number a searcher must beat; search and you roll against whoever hid it.
