Draw Steel kit
Rapid Fire
Rapid Fire is a kit in Draw Steel: light projectile weapons, trading shot power for volume and mobility.

Overview
Rapid Fire equips a hero with light ranged weapons and the footwork to keep using them: shortbows, hand crossbows, and thrown weapons loosed quickly rather than heavily. Its damage comes from rate of fire, so the kit spends its bonuses on speed, medium distance, and consistency instead of on any single devastating hit. In play this is the kit that puts damage on the board every round without needing perfect positioning. The speed bonus matters more than it looks, because a turn in Draw Steel is one action and one maneuver, and moving is the maneuver: extra speed is what lets you break contact and still attack. The weakness is a crowded battlefield, since light armor and a low melee damage bonus mean a pinned Rapid Fire hero spends turns fixing that instead of shooting.
Tips and playstyle
Best Classes: Shadow (a ranged precision striker), Tactician (a mobile commander who shoots while directing), Troubadour (performing from a safe distance), Fury (still dangerous when the fight opens at range). Playstyle: Hold medium range and attack every round. Spend the speed bonus keeping melee enemies off you, and aim at exposed or unarmored targets rather than the enemy your front line is already grinding down. When to Choose This Kit: Choose Rapid Fire for steady damage from a mobile position. If you would rather land one heavy shot from much further away, take Sniper instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fight in melee with this kit?
You carry light melee weapons as backup, but the melee damage bonus is low, so treat melee as a problem to leave rather than win. Move away and shoot again instead of trading hits with a dedicated melee build.
How does Rapid Fire compare with Sniper?
Rapid Fire gives up range and per-shot damage for a speed bonus and medium distance. Sniper has the longest distance bonus and the highest ranged damage of any kit but no speed bonus, which leaves it far more dependent on the front line holding.
Does the kit change which abilities I can use?
No. A kit supplies weapons, armor, and bonuses to stamina, speed, stability, damage, and distance, while your class and subclass supply abilities. You can also swap kits when you level up or during downtime, so the choice is not permanent.
