Ork

Overview
Orks get physical power cheaply and pay for it everywhere else. Raised Body and Strength maximums mean an ork can out-soak and out-hit a human without spending a single nuyen on chrome, which is why so many ork runners come up as muscle for a fixer before they ever pick an archetype. The Sixth World does not give orks a fair hearing. Hiring, housing, policing, and pay all run against them, so an ork character usually has street contacts instead of corporate ones and a lifestyle a rung lower than their earnings should buy. Orks also tend to live fast, which pushes the metatype toward runners who take the job now rather than plan a careful ten year exit.
How it works
Attribute Maximums: Body and Strength rise above the standard cap of 6, toward the racial ceiling of 8. Agility, Logic, and Charisma get nothing. Edge: Lower than a human's. An ork's staying power is printed on the condition monitor rather than bought back with luck. Qualities: Low light senses and visible tusks are the usual ork traits, and the social penalty is the one that shows up in play. Note both in the free text Qualities field. Condition Monitors: Physical runs high, at 8 plus half Body rounded up. Stun is ordinary unless you invest in Willpower yourself.
Tips and playstyle
Best for: Street samurai, adepts, and any close combat build, since Strength drives melee damage and Body drives how long you stay in the fight. Character concepts: A go-gang veteran who graduated to shadow work, an ork rigger who builds drones out of scrap, a bouncer from an Ork Underground club who knows every door in the district. Synergies: Body and Strength support Close Combat and Athletics directly, and a face on the team is close to mandatory, because negotiation is where an ork's metatype costs the run money.
Frequently asked questions
Ork or troll for a street samurai?
Ork if you want the raised physical maximums without a troll's equipment and access problems. Troll if you want the highest Body and Strength ceilings in the setting and can live with the rest.
Does the prejudice have mechanics?
Not in this builder. It lives in the Qualities field and in how the GM plays Johnsons, landlords, and security, which usually means the team's face does the talking.
Can an ork play a decker or a mage?
Yes. Logic and Magic cap at 6 for everyone, so an ork decker gives up nothing on the core attribute and keeps the physical maximums as a bonus when the run stops being quiet.
