Clan curse (Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition)
Clan curse (Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition)
Flaws
Definition
Clan Curse means the bane in your Blood is unusually strong. A Nosferatu whose deformity cannot be masked, a Ventrue whose acceptable prey is vanishingly narrow, a Brujah whose fury waits behind every insult. For thin-bloods it works differently: they normally have no bane at all, and this flaw gives them one from a clan of their choice, a mark of the blood they came from.
How it works
**Effect**: Treat your Bane Severity as one higher than your Blood Potency would grant. Thin-bloods with this flaw gain a chosen clan bane at Severity 1. **Interaction**: This system's rules tie Bane Severity to Blood Potency, so the flaw scales as you grow older and stronger. **Benefit**: Grants creation experience points or story leverage, like every flaw on the RPG Stack sheet.
Tips
**Character concepts**: Thin-blood who wants a clan identity, Malkavian whose derangement dominates play, Tzimisce who cannot leave their soil. **When to take**: Take it if you want the bane to be a defining feature rather than an occasional inconvenience.
Frequently asked questions
Can a thin-blood pick any clan bane?
Yes, though most pick the clan of their sire. Note the chosen clan on your sheet.
Does Clan Curse also change my Compulsion?
No. Compulsions are separate from banes and are not affected by Bane Severity.
