Overview

A Fixer is who edgerunners call for something they cannot buy in a shop: a clean gun, an unregistered clinic, a name, a buyer, or a job. The role is not about what you can do, it is about who owes you and who you can put in a room together. At the table the Fixer is the campaign's connective tissue. Operator turns a problem into a phone call, so the crew gets gear, leads, and work without the GM inventing a patron for every arc. The trade is reciprocity: every favor gets repaid eventually, and a Fixer who burns contacts to win a scene finds the network thinner next time.

How it works

Role Ability: Operator Operator Description: Your network of contacts supplies services, information, and resources on demand. Rank measures how deep the network runs and how large an ask it absorbs without complaint. Rank: Starts at 4 at creation and caps at 10. Each new rank costs Improvement Points equal to that rank times 60, and it ignores the creation cap of 6 on ordinary skills. Key Skills: Streetwise for knowing who is who, Trading and Bribery for the deal itself, Conversation and Persuasion for keeping relationships alive, Human Perception for the contact about to sell you. Typical Equipment: An agent whose contact list is worth more than the hardware, a concealed sidearm, good clothes, and a meeting spot nobody else knows.

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Players who like being the hub of a campaign, and groups that want jobs and gear to arrive through fiction rather than a shopping list. Playstyle: Build COOL and EMP, keep Streetwise high, and write down every contact with what they want. Use Operator to reshape the scenario, not to win a single scene. Character Concepts: Combat Zone kid who never needed to leave, gang quartermaster gone independent, a corporate procurement officer who kept the supplier list, a bartender everyone owes.

Frequently asked questions

What can Operator get me?

Gear, transport, information, introductions, medical care, and work, all sourced through people rather than owned outright. Rank governs scale and speed: a rank 4 Fixer finds a decent pistol tonight, not an aircraft by morning.

Does calling in contacts cost anything?

It should. Eddies cover the goods, but the relationship is the real currency. Most GMs treat a large ask as a favor owed, which becomes the hook for a later session.

Is a Fixer helpless in combat?

No, just not a specialist. Keep Handgun and Evasion at a workable rank and carry something concealed. Your real edge is knowing which fights were avoidable and who could have warned you.
