Overview

A Nomad belongs to a family that moves. Some run cargo along the coast highways, some work fields, some run guns, but the arrangement is the same: the family looks after you and you look after the family, and neither side opts out when it becomes inconvenient. At the table the Nomad is transport, extraction, and the one player who can drive out of whatever just went wrong. Moto keeps a vehicle in your hands and relatives within reach when you need bodies or somewhere to disappear. It also gives the family claims on you, so Nomad campaigns get pulled between the crew in Night City and the people who raised you.

How it works

Role Ability: Moto Moto Description: Your nomad family supplies vehicles, support, and backup. Rank sets the quality of ride you can keep and how much of the family turns up when you ask. Rank: Starts at 4 at creation and caps at 10. Each new rank costs Improvement Points equal to that rank times 60, and it ignores the creation cap of 6 on ordinary skills. Key Skills: Drive Land Vehicle first and hardest, Land Vehicle Tech so you can fix what you break, Shoulder Arms for the roadside, Endurance for long hauls, Pilot Air Vehicle or Pilot Sea Vehicle if your family runs those routes. Typical Equipment: A vehicle you know intimately, tools and spares, armor, and a rifle behind the seat.

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Campaigns that leave the city, chase-heavy games, and players who want a support network with strings attached. Playstyle: REF drives the role, so push it high and back it with BODY and TECH. Treat the vehicle as a second character sheet. Moto works best before the job, arranging the exit rather than rescuing the entrance. Character Concepts: Long-haul convoy driver, family scout sent ahead, a mechanic sent to the city to earn, a bike courier who never learned to sit still.

Frequently asked questions

What vehicle do I start with?

Whatever your rank supports and your family runs. Early ranks mean a serviceable bike or an aging car with history; high ranks put you in something armored or genuinely fast. The GM sets the exact ride from your family's trade.

Can I call my family for help mid-job?

Yes, and that is what separates Moto from owning a car. Expect a delay before they arrive, questions about what the job was, and a favor owed if anyone gets hurt on your account.

Do Nomads have to come from one specific clan?

No. Pick a family and a trade that suits the concept: haulers, farmers, smugglers, salvagers. The role only assumes a group of people who move for a living count you as one of theirs.
