Overview

Presence is how strongly a hero registers in a room: commanding, charming, deceiving, or inspiring. It drives most social tests and fuels the classes whose power comes from sheer will and personality. Draw Steel gives Presence real combat weight. Talents strike with psionic force and Troubadours turn a fight around, both by adding Presence to their power rolls.

How it works

Range: -2 to 5, assigned at character creation. Power rolls: Add Presence to 2d10 for Presence-based abilities and tests; 11 or lower is tier 1, 12 to 16 tier 2, 17 or higher tier 3. Skills: Brag, Deceive, Dress, Flirt, Gather Rumors, Lead, Lie, Music, Perform, and Persuade are Presence tests. Classes: Primary for the Talent and Troubadour; the Censor combines Presence with Might.

Tips and playstyle

Best for: Troubadours, Talents, Censors, and any hero who wants to be the party's voice. Character concepts: Aristocrat diplomat, entertainer who commands crowds, criminal con artist, devil negotiator, disgraced officer who still expects obedience. Synergies: Lead and Persuade support a Tactician's battlefield role, and Dress plus Deceive makes an infiltrator who never needs to sneak.

Frequently asked questions

Is Presence just a roleplaying stat?

No. Talents and Troubadours add Presence to their attack and support abilities, so for those classes it is the main combat characteristic, not a social afterthought.

Should the whole party have some Presence?

One strong Presence hero is enough for negotiations. Others can sit at 0 or -1 as long as they let the talker lead.
