Overview
The Cobweb loresheet represents an unusually strong connection to the network that links Malkavian minds across distance. Most of the clan brushes against it as coincidence: a phrase from a stranger that answers a question you never asked out loud, a sudden certainty about a street you have never walked. Characters with this loresheet touch it deliberately. What comes back is never clean. The Cobweb delivers fragments, images, and the borrowed distress of Malkavians you have never met, and it delivers them on its own schedule. Played well it is the best plot-delivery mechanism in the game, because the Storyteller can hand you true information in a form you cannot act on.
How it works
Benefits: Access to visions and warnings the rest of the coterie has no route to, and an informal line to Malkavians in other cities Dot Levels: Lower levels receive fragments. Higher levels grant clarity, some control over what you ask, and the ability to push a message out through the network rather than only receive Risk: A deeper connection carries more of other people's madness, and the clan bane does not get gentler because the information was useful
Tips and playstyle
Best For: Malkavian characters, Auspex-focused mystics, chronicles that want a source of true but unreliable information Story Hooks: The network goes quiet in one city and nobody knows why; a vision names a coterie member as responsible for something that has not happened yet
Frequently asked questions
Can non-Malkavians take this loresheet?
Normally no. The Cobweb runs on Malkavian blood, so a character outside the clan needs a Storyteller-approved reason, such as being sired by a Malkavian in all but name.
Is the information reliable?
It is true and it is useless in equal measure. The Cobweb gives you real detail without context, timing, or names, which is why acting on it is a gamble.
Can other Malkavians read me through it?
Assume yes at higher levels. A connection that carries messages outward also carries impressions inward, and the clan tends to know more about you than you shared.
