Overview

A Lupus was born a wolf and learned the world through scent, territory, and the hunt before the First Change handed them a second shape. Speech, money, and doorknobs all come later, and none of them come naturally. At the table a Lupus reads terrain and danger better than the rest of the pack and fumbles phones and small talk. This breed is the most bound to wild places and the most likely to read a city as a wound.

How it works

Birth: Wolf parents, born in wolf form. The First Change reveals a human shape the character never wanted. Sheet Impact: Breed sets background only. Lupus characters use the same Attribute and Skill distributions as everyone else. Form Note: Lupus also names the wolf form, which adds two dice to Stealth and Survival but cannot use tools or speak human languages.

Tips and playstyle

Best for: Players who want instinct over conversation, and packs whose chronicle runs through wilderness, caerns, and the spirit world. Character concepts: A pack alpha who changed mid-hunt, a scout who tolerates exactly one human, a wolf-born who hates wearing a human face. Synergies: Survival, Awareness, and Animal Ken fit the upbringing, and Red Talons, Galestalkers, and Hart Wardens respect wolf-born on sight.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Lupus character speak?

In Homid or Glabro form, yes, though often bluntly. In Lupus or Hispo form human language is unavailable.

Is Lupus harder to play than Homid?

In urban chronicles, yes, with no documents or contacts. In a wilderness game the same character is the most capable present.
