Lupus is a form in Werewolf W5: The true wolf shape, unremarkable in the wild, adding two dice to Stealth and Survival tests.

Overview
Lupus is an ordinary wolf, and that is the point. Its 2 extra dice land on Stealth and Survival tests rather than on fighting, and it is the only shape that crosses open country without explaining itself. Tools and human language are both gone. In play Lupus is the approach form. Scouts walk a territory line in it, Silent Striders travel in it, and a Ragabash uses it to learn what the pack is about to walk into. In a city it fails differently from Crinos: a wolf in a parking lot starts a police report, not a Delirium.
How it works
Attribute Changes: None as ratings. The form adds 2 dice to Stealth and Survival tests specifically, not to Physical tests generally. Speed: The fastest of the five over distance, with a wolf's endurance behind it. Delirium: None. Mortals see a wolf, which most of them accept and some of them shoot. Shifting: Rage fuels the change, and dropping to Lupus is the usual way to leave a scene that Crinos started. Tools and Speech: Neither is available. No hands, and no human language until you shift back.
Tips and playstyle
Best for: Scouting, tracking, travel, and any scene that goes better if nobody knows you were there. Character concepts: A Ragabash casing a site before the pack commits, a Silent Strider crossing three states, a wolf-born Garou who wears a human face under protest. Synergies: The 2 dice stack with a Stealth or Survival specialty, and Red Talons, Galestalkers, and Hart Wardens all build around them.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Lupus give no combat bonus?
Because it is the scout shape. The 2 dice land on Stealth and Survival tests only, so a Lupus Garou who gets caught should shift to Hispo for 2 dice on Physical tests or to Crinos for 4.
Is Lupus any use in an urban chronicle?
Less than Homid, far more than nothing. A wolf moving through rail yards, parks, and drainage lines draws no Delirium and reads as an animal control problem, which buys the pack time that Crinos never buys.
Can a Homid-born Garou use Lupus well?
Yes. Breed sets upbringing, not dice: the 2 extra Stealth and Survival dice are identical for Homid, Metis, and Lupus breeds. Only how comfortable your character looks in the shape changes.
