Every mage has an Avatar, but its strength varies dramatically. A strong Avatar provides clearer guidance, more vivid Seekings, and a deeper connection to the currents of reality. The Avatar Background is uniquely important in Mage because it directly affects the Seeking process, the mystical ordeals through which mages increase their Arete. A high Avatar rating means Seekings are more accessible and the Avatar communicates its desires more clearly. However, a strong Avatar also has a stronger personality and agenda, sometimes pushing the mage in directions they might not choose on their own.
