Daggerheart ancestry
Human
Human is an ancestry in Daggerheart: Versatile, ambitious folk whose short lives push them to build, travel, and adapt.

Overview
Humans are the most widespread ancestry in Daggerheart, found in every community and every trade. Their comparatively short lives give them urgency: they build, wander, and take risks on a timescale that Elves find alarming and Dwarves find sloppy. Nothing in the ancestry pushes a Human toward a particular class, which is exactly why it sits comfortably with all of them. Mechanically, Human is the endurance ancestry. Extra Stress capacity means you reach a breakdown later than everyone else at the table, and the reroll on a failed Experience roll rewards players who write Experiences they intend to invoke. Neither feature dominates a single scene, and both add up across a long one, so Humans hold their value best in grinding sessions where the party never quite gets a full rest.
Tips and playstyle
Best Classes: Any of them. Human suits Guardian and Warrior (the extra Stress soaks front-line pressure), Wizard and Sorcerer (Stress pays for the loudest abilities), and Bard (Experiences carry your best scenes). Character Concepts: Farmhand turned hero, ambitious merchant, frontier surveyor, displaced noble, city guard who kept asking questions, a scholar working against a deadline. Why Choose Human: Take Human when you want stamina rather than a niche. An extra Stress slot and an Experience reroll improve every build, and no ancestry feature drags your backstory somewhere you did not choose.
Frequently asked questions
Are Humans boring next to the other ancestries?
Their features are quiet rather than flashy. An extra Stress slot and a reroll pay out constantly instead of dramatically, and the open slate means your community and class define the character rather than your ancestry.
How do I get value from Adaptability?
Write Experiences you will invoke often, then invoke them. The reroll only triggers on a failed roll that used an Experience, so a broad, usable Experience is worth far more than a colorful one you never bring up.
Which community pairs best with a Human?
All of them, since Humans live everywhere. Use the community choice to supply the specific background your ancestry deliberately leaves blank, and let the two halves point in different directions if that is more interesting.
