Overview
Rogues rely on skill, stealth, and their foes' vulnerabilities to get the upper hand. They have a knack for finding the solution to just about any problem, whether through deception, investigation, or good old-fashioned breaking and entering. When they do fight, Rogues strike with deadly precision. Rogue characters are the skill monkeys and precision strikers of the party. With the most skill proficiencies and Expertise, they excel outside combat. Sneak Attack provides massive single-hit damage. The Thief subclass (SRD) enhances mobility and object interaction, making you the ultimate infiltrator.

Tips and playstyle
Character Concepts: Burglar, spy, assassin, swashbuckler, scout, investigator, con artist, treasure hunter. Playstyle: Rogues do massive damage with one attack per turn via Sneak Attack. Use Cunning Action to Disengage after attacking or Hide to gain advantage. Expertise makes you the best at your chosen skills, period. Synergies: Expertise in Stealth + Cunning Action Hide = reliable Sneak Attack. Sentinel feat or multiclass can generate more reaction uses. Expertise in Perception and Thieves' Tools covers dungeon exploration.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get Sneak Attack?
You need to use a finesse or ranged weapon AND either have advantage on the attack OR have an ally within 5 feet of the target (and not have disadvantage). You don't need to literally be sneaking. An ally standing next to your target is enough.
Can I Sneak Attack more than once per turn?
Once per TURN, not per round. This means you could potentially Sneak Attack on your turn AND on someone else's turn via a reaction (like an opportunity attack). This is a key distinction.
