Overview

Entertainers earned a living in front of people through music, acting, dance, comedy, acrobatics, or storytelling. The work teaches three things a hero needs: reading a room quickly, holding attention on purpose, and staying composed while something goes wrong in public. A Draw Steel career covers who you were before the story starts, and this one leaves you fluent in the Presence skills, Perform, Music, Brag, and Persuade among them. In play the Entertainer career shows up in negotiation and montage tests rather than in combat, because your class, subclass, and kit decide what happens once initiative starts. Where the career earns its keep is access. A performer has a reason to be inside the noble's hall, on the road with a caravan, or on stage while the rest of the party works the back rooms, and that reason rarely needs explaining twice.

Tips and playstyle

Best Classes: Troubadour (the direct match, Presence and performance together), Talent (a charismatic psion), Shadow (an actor who infiltrates), Censor (an investigator who can hold a crowd). Character Concepts: Travelling minstrel, street acrobat, court jester, dramatic actor, carnival barker, a storyteller who saw something they were not meant to see. Roleplaying Tips: Play to an audience even when there is not one. Describe your tests with flair, buy the party time with a performance, and remember that a Presence test is 2d10 plus Presence, so the stunt still needs a real characteristic behind it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Entertainer only good for Troubadours?

No. The career grants a skill and a set of contacts, not class features. A Fury who fought exhibition bouts or a Shadow who worked as a stage magician both get genuine use out of Perform and a venue network.

Does my career change anything in combat?

Almost nothing. Class, subclass, and kit set your combat numbers, while the career sets what you know and who you know. Entertainer pays off in negotiation, montage tests, and getting through the door in the first place.

Which skills fit the career best?

The Presence group holds Perform, Music, Brag, and Persuade, and Dance sits under Agility. Take the one your character did for money and let culture and class fill in the rest.
