Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition flaw
Amnesia
Amnesia is a flaw in Vampire V5: missing years in your memory, and other people remember them.
Last reviewed
Overview
Amnesia means a stretch of your past is gone. You may not remember your Embrace, your sire, or what you did in the years afterward. Someone else does, and they may come collecting. The Storyteller owns the missing time. That is the point: your history is a loaded gun someone else is holding.
How it works
Effect: You cannot rely on your own memories of the affected period. The Storyteller may introduce debts, enemies, or crimes from that time without warning. Scope: Define how much is missing when you take the flaw, from a few months to your entire mortal life. Benefit: Grants creation experience points or story leverage, like every flaw on the RPG Stack sheet.
Tips and playstyle
Character concepts: Neonate who woke in a grave, Malkavian whose gaps feel deliberate, elder freshly out of torpor, Caitiff with no idea who sired them. When to take: Excellent for players who like discovering their character in play and trust the Storyteller with surprises.
Frequently asked questions
Can I recover my memories?
Yes, if the Storyteller has planned the reveal. Recovery usually comes with consequences and ends the flaw.
Does Amnesia affect my Skills or Disciplines?
No. You keep what you know how to do. You just do not remember how you learned it.
