Overview

The Silver Fangs have led the Garou Nation for as long as anyone has been counting, by lineage as much as by merit. Their patron is Falcon and their favored Renown is Honor, and the tribe's identity rests on the claim that someone has to hold the line and that it should be them. The claim is old, and it is visibly fraying. In play a Silver Fang is the character everyone in the sept has an opinion about before the first scene. You arrive with rank, obligation, and a Shadow Lord waiting for you to slip. The tribe is best when the player takes the burden seriously: a Fang who earns the deference they were born to is a story, while one who only demands it is a title. Expect Honor to cost you something at least once per chronicle.

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Players who want authority, obligation, and a character who inherited a problem along with a name. Playstyle: Take Leadership and Etiquette, spend Background dots on the sept connections your name implies, and pair the tribe with Philodox or Ahroun. Decide what your house did wrong before play begins; it is worth more than another dot. Character Concepts: Young heir on a first command, disgraced house scion, sept alpha under pressure, military officer, an elder's aide who knows the truth.

Frequently asked questions

Do Silver Fangs get authority in the rules?

Not automatically. The claim is social, and Renown is what turns it into standing. You start with 3 Renown dots and a cap of 2 in any category, so a young Fang has a famous name well ahead of any record.

Why is the tribe described as declining?

Generations of command taken by birthright rather than earned have cost the Fangs credibility, which is exactly the opening the Shadow Lords keep pushing at. Playing the decline honestly makes the tribe far more interesting than ignoring it.

Can a Silver Fang be an outsider?

Yes, and it plays well. A Fang raised away from the house, or one who broke with it, keeps the name and the expectations while owing nothing at all to the elders who trade on them.
