Overview
Correspondence treats distance as a habit of the Consensus rather than a fact. At low ranks it tells you what is where, what is joined to what, and who is watching; at high ranks it moves things, yourself included, from one point to another without crossing the space in between. The Virtual Adepts hold it as their specialty Sphere, which is why their magic reads as networking rather than sorcery. In play, Correspondence is the Sphere that gives every other Sphere reach, and it is the standard answer to the question of how the cabal gets inside. It is also the loudest Sphere at the table: a person vanishing in front of Sleepers is vulgar magic, and Paradox is tracked from 0 to 20 on your sheet, so most Correspondence work happens unobserved or disguised as a phone call, a courier, or a very short walk.
How it works
Level 1: Perceive spatial relationships, judge exact distances, and notice the links that tie one place to another Level 2: Sense and listen across those links, touch a distant object, and hold a small conduit open Level 3: Move yourself or an object through space and step through a doorway you made Level 4: Shift large or unwilling things, fold long distances, and set one location inside another Level 5: Rewrite what counts as here, co-locating whole areas so a place exists in several spots at once
Tips and playstyle
Best For: Mages who want mobility, surveillance, and a way to make every other Sphere work at range. Virtual Adepts take it as their Tradition specialty. Synergies: Forces to strike a target you never approach, Life to heal an ally across town, Matter to send objects instead of yourself, Mind to hold a scrying link on a person rather than a place.
Frequently asked questions
How many dots do I need before I can teleport?
Three, which is also the most you can put in any one Sphere at creation. You only get 6 Sphere dots to start, so an opening teleporter is spending half their magic on arriving.
Does distance protect me from Paradox?
No. What matters is whether a Sleeper sees something impossible, not how far away you were. Sensing a distant room is coincidental; a body appearing out of empty air is vulgar and feeds the 0 to 20 Paradox track.
Is one dot of Correspondence useful on its own?
Very. Rank 1 reads layouts, exact distances, and what is connected to what, so you become the cabal's map without ever producing an effect a Sleeper could notice.
