Overview

Entropy is the study of how patterns come apart and which way the odds fall. Its low ranks read fortune and flaw: whose luck is running out, where the crack in the wall runs, which of two plans is already doomed. Higher ranks push, turning a fair chance into a certainty and a working machine into rust. The Euthanatos hold Entropy as their specialty Sphere, and their whole doctrine of karmic cycles lives inside it. At the table Entropy is the least showy Sphere and often the most coincidental, which is exactly what makes it strong. A lock that was already worn, a guard who was always going to sneeze, a car that will not start: none of that looks like magic, so it rarely feeds Paradox. The trade is that Entropy alone seldom resolves a scene outright. It tilts scenes, and something else finishes them.

How it works

Level 1: Read fate and fortune, weigh the odds on a plan, and spot the weak point in an object or an argument Level 2: Nudge probability, hand out luck or misfortune, and make the unlikely outcome the likely one Level 3: Decay or preserve nonliving patterns, breaking machinery and crumbling structures on command Level 4: Reach living and unpredictable patterns: illness, curses, and the deliberate unravelling of a person's fortune Level 5: Rewrite order and chaos across whole systems, from an organization's luck to a district's fate

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Mages who prefer to win before anyone rolls, and anyone who wants effects a Sleeper can explain away. Euthanatos take it as their Tradition specialty. Synergies: Time to see the outcome you are steering toward, Matter to decide exactly what breaks, Life for sickness and its reversal, Correspondence to curse someone from somewhere safe.

Frequently asked questions

Is Entropy just a luck Sphere?

Luck sits at rank 2. Below it, Entropy is information: fate, flaws, and odds. Above it, the Sphere destroys and preserves outright, which makes it genuinely offensive against objects at rank 3 and against people at rank 4.

Why does Entropy rarely draw Paradox?

Because its results usually look natural. A rope that frays, a losing hand of cards, an engine that dies at the wrong moment: all coincidental. Paradox climbs when a Sleeper witnesses the impossible, which Entropy can normally avoid.

Can Entropy kill someone?

At rank 4 it reaches living patterns, which covers disease and sustained misfortune rather than a clean instant kill. Most Euthanatos pair it with another Sphere and let the bad luck arrange the circumstances.
