Overview

Celerity is the Discipline of supernatural speed and reflexes, allowing vampires to move and act faster than mortals can perceive. It grants incredible agility, reaction time, and reflexes fast enough to answer an attack before it lands. Celerity is one of the most versatile physical Disciplines, useful in both combat and social situations. Vampires with Celerity can dodge attacks, close distances instantly, and perform feats of acrobatics that would be impossible for mortals. At higher levels, Celerity lets a vampire cross a room in an eyeblink, fire a shot that cannot be dodged, and act inside a second that has already passed.

How it works

Clans with Celerity: Banu Haqim, Brujah, Toreador Basic Powers:

  • Level 1: Keep your footing on any surface, take free minor actions, and dodge gunfire that would hit anyone else
  • Level 2: Add your Celerity rating to Dexterity dice pools, including the roll you defend with
  • Level 3: Cross a distance in an eyeblink, and run up a wall or across water
  • Level 4: Lend your speed to another vampire, or shoot so fast the attack cannot be dodged
  • Level 5: Strike before anyone can respond, or act inside a second that has already passed Rouse Checks: Using Celerity powers typically requires Rouse checks, which can increase Hunger.

Frequently asked questions

How does Celerity work in combat?

Celerity adds your rating to Dexterity dice pools, improves the pool you defend with, and closes distances that should cost a whole turn. It does not hand you extra actions in a turn: what it buys is a bigger pool, better positioning, and the free minor actions the first dot already grants.

Can Celerity help me dodge bullets?

Yes. The first dot already lets you dodge gunfire, which ordinary Kindred cannot do, and the second dot adds your Celerity rating to the Dexterity plus Athletics pool you dodge with.

What clans have Celerity as an in-clan Discipline?

Banu Haqim, Brujah, and Toreador have Celerity as an in-clan Discipline, meaning they learn it at a discount. Other clans can learn it, but it costs more XP.

How does Celerity interact with other Disciplines?

Celerity works well with Potence (for powerful attacks), Presence (for dramatic entrances), and Obfuscate (for hit-and-run tactics). It's one of the most versatile Disciplines.
