Overview

Choleric resonance is the taste anger leaves in blood. A vessel who has been screaming at a referee, fighting outside a bar, or arguing until their hands shake carries it, and so does anyone burning with jealousy or ambition. The emotion is what marks the vitae, not the violence, so a furious accountant works as well as a brawler. In play this is the resonance combat characters chase. It sharpens Celerity and Potence, so a coterie that knows the night ends in a fight will spend the early hours hunting somewhere tempers run hot, then go do the dangerous thing while the blood is still working.

How it works

Emotion: Anger, aggression, and passion that has tipped over into heat Discipline Bonus: Celerity and Potence Intensity: Fleeting choleric colors the blood without doing anything mechanical. Intense choleric grants a bonus die on rolls using the linked Disciplines for the rest of the night Finding It: Bar fights, road rage, contact sports, picket lines, couples arguing in a stairwell Dyscrasias: Rare acute vessels go further than intense ones and can produce a temporary dyscrasia, a stranger and stronger effect the Storyteller defines for that vessel

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Brujah brawlers, anyone leaning on Potence for damage or Celerity for extra actions, characters who expect to be shot at before dawn Hunting Ground: Fight nights, closing time outside clubs, emergency rooms after a crash, gyms where someone is training out a grudge Risks: Angry vessels struggle, shout, and remember. Choleric hunting produces more Masquerade problems than any other resonance

Frequently asked questions

Does the vessel have to be violent?

No. Any burning emotion counts: jealousy, righteous fury, obsessive ambition. Violence is just the easiest version to find reliably on a Tuesday night.

How long does the bonus last?

Most Storytellers run it as lasting the rest of the night. Feed for the resonance you need before the dangerous part of the evening, not after it.

Can I tell a vessel's resonance before I bite?

Not by looking. Auspex reads resonance directly. Everyone else judges by behavior, and someone visibly furious is a safe bet for choleric.
