Melancholic resonance comes from vessels weighed down by sadness, fear, or long grounded thought. Mourners, the chronically depressed, people leaving a hospital with bad news, and the quiet scholar who has not spoken to anyone in three days all carry it. It is the most common resonance in a city at four in the morning. Because it feeds Fortitude and Obfuscate, melancholic blood is the survivor's meal: soak damage, go unseen, get out. Kindred who work as scouts, spies, or errand runners for a prince tend to hunt this resonance deliberately, which is why grief-heavy places get quietly territorial.
