Language (Cyberpunk RED)

Skills

Definition

Language represents your fluency in a specific spoken and written language. Night City is one of the most linguistically diverse cities on the planet—a melting pot where English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, and dozens of other languages mix on every street corner. Being multilingual isn't just cultural—it's a tactical advantage. Language uses your INT stat and is purchased separately for each language you know. Your native language is assumed to be fluent. Additional languages open up communication with communities that might otherwise be closed to you, let you eavesdrop on conversations others assume are private, and allow you to read signs, documents, and data in foreign languages. In Night City's Japantown, Little China, Heywood's Latino communities, and the international corporate world, speaking the local language is the difference between being an insider and being an outsider.

How it works

**Linked Stat**: INT **Key Uses**: - Communicating with non-English speakers - Eavesdropping on foreign language conversations - Reading documents and signage in other languages - Building rapport with specific cultural communities **Additional**: Each language is a separate skill. Higher ranks represent greater fluency—from basic phrases to native-level mastery. Streetslang is its own language in Cyberpunk RED.

Tips

**Build Advice**: At least one additional language is valuable for most edgerunners. Choose based on where you operate—Japantown means Japanese, Heywood means Spanish. **Synergies**: Pairs with Local Expert for complete cultural integration into a neighborhood.
