Daggerheart domain
Midnight
Midnight is a domain in Daggerheart: shadow, stealth, illusion, and everything deliberately kept hidden.

Overview
Midnight covers the dark and what is done in it: concealment, illusion, misdirection, and secrets that other people would rather keep. It is the most situational-looking domain in Daggerheart and one of the strongest in practice, because avoiding an encounter entirely denies the GM the chance to spend Fear on it. It is shared by the Rogue (with Grace) and the Sorcerer (with Arcana), which puts a mundane infiltrator and a volatile caster in the same card pool. The Rogue leads with Finesse and the Sorcerer with Instinct, so the same shadow can be a careful hand or an unstable reflex.
How it works
Classes: Rogue (paired with Grace) and Sorcerer (paired with Arcana). The Rogue's primary trait is Finesse and the Sorcerer's is Instinct. Card Types: Concealment and darkness effects, illusions and misdirection, ambush and strike-from-hiding options, and abilities for learning things nobody offered. Several trade stress for a sudden escape or a hidden advantage. Themes: Shadow, stealth, and hidden things.
Tips and playstyle
Best for: Rogues doing the scouting and the theft, and Sorcerers who want a defensive answer that does not rely on armor score. Character concepts: Spymaster, shadow-touched heir, cat burglar, cult infiltrator, an illusionist who has not told the party their real name. Synergies: Finesse is the trait for the hands-on side of Midnight and Instinct for the sensing side, so the domain works with either. Midnight with Grace (the Rogue) is the complete infiltration kit. Midnight with Arcana (the Sorcerer) covers the classic glass cannon problem: low HP slots, so the concealment is the armor.
Frequently asked questions
Is Midnight evil?
No. Its theme is shadow, stealth, and hidden things, not corruption. A Rogue protecting a city with information and a Sorcerer hiding from something that hunts them both draw from the same pool for entirely different reasons.
Why does the Sorcerer get a stealth domain?
Sorcerers have low HP slots, so Midnight is their survival half: concealment, illusion, and misdirection instead of armor. Arcana supplies the damage, Midnight supplies the reason they are still standing.
Does Midnight work in a lit room?
Yes, though the cards that specifically use darkness are stronger when there is some. Illusion and misdirection options do not need shadow, and several Midnight abilities create the concealment they need rather than waiting for it.
