Overview

The Euthanatos hold that death is a stage in a cycle rather than a failure, and that a mage who understands the cycle is obliged to keep it turning. That includes the good death: a killing performed as service and judged by the Tradition's standards rather than a mage's convenience. Entropy is their specialty Sphere, which makes fate, decay, and probability their native language. In play a Euthanatos is the cabal's judge and its most uncomfortable member. Entropy rank 1 reads whose luck has run out and where a plan is already broken, which is unglamorous and constantly useful. The Tradition works best when the group has agreed in advance how far the killing goes, because a character whose paradigm licenses murder needs a table that has opted into that argument.

How it works

Focus: The balance of life and death, karmic cycles, and fate Typical Spheres: Entropy (the Tradition's specialty), Life, Spirit, Mind Paradigm: Every pattern has a term, and a mage who reads fate can tell when it has arrived Practice: Divination, funerary rite, meditation on death, judgment before action Instruments: Dice and lots, ashes, blades, prayer beads, the names of the dead

Tips and playstyle

Best For: Players who want moral weight, divination, and magic that mostly looks like coincidence. Playstyle: Lead with Entropy and add Life so you can mend as well as end. Let your rank 1 readings shape the cabal's plans, and make each killing cost your character something on screen. Character Concepts: Hospice worker, forensic pathologist, retired assassin, fortune teller, a young mage frightened of what the readings keep asking for.

Frequently asked questions

Are Euthanatos just assassins?

No. The Tradition is about the cycle, and most of its work is divination, funerary duty, and declining to kill. A Euthanatos who cannot say how a death serves the cycle is committing murder, and their own peers judge that harshly.

Why is Entropy their specialty Sphere?

Because fate, decay, and probability are the mechanics of the cycle they serve. Entropy rank 1 reads fortune and flaw and rank 4 reaches living patterns, an arc that matches the Tradition's own move from seeing to acting.

How do I run one without derailing the group?

Agree in session zero which deaths are on the table. The best scenes come from a Euthanatos who reads a fate and then argues for restraint, not from surprise executions of other players' contacts.
