Overview
Blood Potency 0 is where the curse runs out. Thin-bloods sit here, along with mortals carrying vitae in their system, and the Blood is too thin to do most of what makes a vampire a vampire. In this system's rules that means no Blood Surge, Bane Severity 0, and no Disciplines at all except Thin-Blood Alchemy. What it buys instead is freedom. Feeding has no restriction, so animal blood, bagged blood, and human vessels all work. Many duskborn can eat food, endure dawn light with discomfort rather than destruction, and pass as living without effort. The generation table in this system puts 14th to 16th generation characters here or at Blood Potency 1, which is why the duskborn are the newest end of the Blood.
How it works
Blood Surge Bonus: None Mend Amount: 1 Superficial damage per Rouse Check Power Bonus: None Feeding Penalty: None; a thin-blood can feed from anything Bane Severity: 0, so no clan bane applies unless a flaw grants one Discipline Max: Thin-Blood Alchemy only
Tips and playstyle
Who Has This: Thin-bloods, ghouls, and mortals with vitae in their system Advantages: No bane, no feeding restriction, and the ability to keep a mortal life running in daylight hours other Kindred cannot use Disadvantages: No Disciplines beyond alchemy, no Blood Surge, and open contempt from Kindred who treat duskborn as a Masquerade risk rather than as people
Frequently asked questions
Can a thin-blood raise their Blood Potency?
It is difficult and usually requires diablerie or an unusual event the Storyteller sets up. Age alone will not do it the way it does for a full vampire.
Do thin-bloods have a clan bane?
Not by default, since Bane Severity is 0 at this rating. The Clan Curse flaw is the way to take one, choosing a clan and gaining its bane at Severity 1.
Is Blood Potency 0 playable?
Yes, and it plays very differently. You trade Disciplines and power for access, daylight tolerance, and alchemy, which makes duskborn coteries fixers rather than enforcers.
