Key facts

Level
9

Overview

Blood Potency 9 describes the strongest of the Antediluvians, the ones whose cults survived long enough to keep feeding them while they slept. At this level a vampire is worshipped rather than governed, and the Kindred serving them may never learn what they serve. For chronicles this rating exists to define an upper bound rather than to be played. It is the answer to why the Camarilla hides, why the Hecata keep their death cults, and why an elder who feels the Beckoning would rather burn than obey it.

How it works

Blood Surge Bonus: Past the point where dice pools describe the outcome Mend Amount: Damage is undone rather than healed Power Bonus: Disciplines reshape places and populations, not scenes Feeding Penalty: Requires vampire blood on a scale that depopulates domains Bane Severity: Absolute; the curse and the creature are the same thing Discipline Max: Not meaningfully limited

Tips and playstyle

Who Has This: The eldest Antediluvians and the objects of Kindred religion Advantages: Existence at this level is the setting's definition of power Disadvantages: Waking means Gehenna, and Gehenna means no more chronicle to play in

Frequently asked questions

Why include ratings nobody plays?

They calibrate the setting. Knowing what sits at 9 tells you exactly how small a Blood Potency 5 elder is.

Do these beings care about the Masquerade?

No. The Masquerade protects vampires who can be found and killed by mortals, which is not the problem an Antediluvian has.
