Overview
Arsenal is an asset Edge, which means it represents something the cell owns and can lose rather than something the hunter is. It covers conventional weapons: handguns, shotguns, rifles, crossbows, blades, and the ammunition and maintenance that keep all of it working. Both the Martial and Entrepreneurial creeds carry asset affinity, so Arsenal sits naturally in either. At the table Arsenal comes up before the Hunt rather than during it. It is the scene where the trunk opens and everyone is handed something, and it answers the question of why five ordinary people arrived at a warehouse armed. It pairs with the Firearms and Melee skills, which do the actual rolling: Arsenal supplies the weapon, and your skill dots decide whether you hit anything with it.
How it works
Category: Asset Effect: Reliable access to conventional weapons and ammunition for the whole cell Benefits: The cell is armed without needing a shopping scene, weapons can be replaced after they are confiscated or dumped, and Perks open restricted or specialized categories such as automatic weapons or armor-piercing loads Advancement: Edges carry no dot rating. You buy the base Edge, then buy Perks separately at 5 XP each, while an entirely new Edge costs 10 XP
Tips and playstyle
Best For: Martial creed hunters, cells with no other source of hardware, players who want a concrete reason their character can hand out shotguns. Playstyle: Spend your creation allowance of 2 Edges plus 1 Perk (or 1 Edge plus 2 Perks) on Arsenal only if someone in the cell has Firearms or Melee dots to match, since the Edge supplies gear rather than competence. Arsenal is also visible: guns are traceable, illegal in most jurisdictions, and a police search ends a chronicle differently than a monster does. Pair it with a Safe House bought from your 7 background dots so the cache has somewhere to live. Character Concepts: Gun-shop owner, discharged infantry sergeant, private security contractor, competitive shooter, prepper with a basement nobody has seen.
Frequently asked questions
How is Arsenal different from Ordnance?
Arsenal covers weapons you point at a target: firearms, crossbows, and blades. Ordnance covers explosives and demolition tools, which destroy structures rather than individuals. Both are asset Edges, so a cell can hold both, but each is a separate 10 XP purchase.
Does Arsenal make me better at shooting?
No. Arsenal is access, not training. Your dice pool comes from an attribute plus the Firearms or Melee skill, so a hunter with Arsenal and no Firearms dots is well equipped and still a poor shot.
Can the cell lose its Arsenal?
Yes, and that is the built-in cost of an asset Edge. A raided storage unit, an arrest, or a fire takes the cache away in a way that no endowment Edge can be taken, and Storytellers use exactly that to push the Danger rating up.
